KHL Medveščak Zagreb played with its professional team in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga for 4 years before moving to the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL – Russian league) in the season 2013/2014. With the U18 team Medvescak is still competing in the Erste Bank Juniors League as part of the development program of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.

KHL Medveščak is a proud partner of UNICEF, this being said that the club promotes hockey against violence in schools and children within families together with UNICEF, and does collect funds and charities for de-mining land mines in Croatia plus several other humanitarian events for children and those in need of help.

KHL Medveščak promotes the motto “A healthy mind in a healthy body” through sports. The club is all aware that young kids are spending more and more time in homes playing electronic games, therefore the club promotes and preaches that children have to go out and be active, by using players to be role models and awakening the dream in younger kids to follow their idols and become active in sports and play active sports rather than sitting at home and playing electronic games.

In order to promote the sport of hockey and continue with the development program of building more ice hockey rinks and having more young people joining, practicing and playing the game of hockey, KHL Medveščak would like to organize one of the tournaments in the upcoming 3 project-years. Other than that KHL Medveščak will contribute the experience of “physical activity-programmes” in discussions with other national federations to establish a European wide project in the future.

KHL Medveščaks role within the EUROCUP-project is also to act as a “Best practice model” for the projects ideas within the croatian icehockey family.
